Hacked websites install banking malware

Thousands of websites, including WordPress and SquareSpace, are unwitting victims in a banking malware scheme.

Hackers have caused the affected websites to show messages to users that tell them to install updates for whatever browser they’re using.

These fake updates are then used to install malware and remote access trojans onto users’ systems.

The scam, named the “FakeUpdates campaign,” has been running for at least four months.
